Mark Renn created the Pioneer Smokehouse & Mercantile to be a place where customers could eat world-class Texas barbecue, browse unique handmade Texas beer art and enjoy fun and fellowship. When setting up his new restaurant venture, location was top priority for Mark —

We chose the old Washington County Train Depot in historic small town Brenham because we wanted to offer our guests the opportunity to feel like they have stepped back in time to a simpler era.

With its gorgeous restored buildings and inviting green space, the Pioneer does double duty as a restaurant and as the home for a church plant on Sunday evenings. Locals can also rent out the Pioneer for events and celebrations. Mark wants people to come for food and stay to build a community —

As part of our investment in the church that meets in our building, we will offer free food on Sunday evenings in a family style set up

The Pioneer menu features authentic Texas BBQ fresh from their beautiful outdoor smoker. They offer daily specials throughout the week and special items (such as Smoked Ribs and Beer Can Chicken) on Fridays and Saturdays.

If you’re looking for a little corner of Texas between Houston and Austin, this is it!

You can find Pioneer Smokehouse & Mercantile on Facebook.

Q & A with owner Mark Renn —

Why did you choose MOJO Point of Sale?

I needed a POS system that could handle menu items, limited time specials and merchandise. I also needed a solution that could support online ordering, pickup and delivery. MOJO POS can do all of that and more!

What advice do you have for someone looking for a POS solution?

Your POS solution should support you, not the other way around! MOJO POS does not require a contract so we can scale up when we need without incurring big overhead. You should also have a POS that lets you test before your opening. MOJO’s service team set up our menu so we could train staff before opening. This made our opening days a big success!
